Exterior Materials

Exterior cladding under evaluation

The exterior cladding under evaluation for the ACSIOM 749 is a fiber cement siding board. The information below summarizes the supplier’s product literature and a third-party test report; it describes candidate material only and is not a confirmed ACSIOM 749 specification.

Fiber cement cladding — supplier description

According to the supplier’s literature, the board is a fiber cement panel produced with an additional pressing process and autoclaved (high-temperature, high-pressure steam curing) to form a wood-grain surface. The supplier lists the raw materials as virgin wood pulp, Portland cement, and fine quartz sand, and states that the product is 100% asbestos-free.

The supplier describes a wood-grain finish and two installation methods: a lapped (overlapping) layout and a clip-fastened flat layout.

Lapped siding (reference)
200 mm × 3,000 mm · 7.5 mm standard; 9 / 10 / 12 mm on request
Clip-fastened siding (reference)
200 mm × 3,000 mm · 12 mm

The supplier’s literature also lists fire, moisture, mold, and termite resistance, freeze–thaw durability, and heat–rain stability, and references a number of domestic and international standards. These are supplier claims and have not been independently verified by ACSIOM.

Third-party test report — summary

A test report issued by an independent laboratory covers fiber cement board submitted by the supplier. The report lists the test standards as ASTM C1185-08 (2016) and ASTM C1186-2022.

Thicknesses of 6, 8, 9, 12, 15, 16, and 18 mm were within scope; the principal performance tests were run on 6 mm and 18 mm samples. Flexural strength, length/width tolerance, thickness tolerance, squareness, edge straightness, surface quality, water tightness, freeze–thaw, warm water, and heat–rain items are reported as Pass.

Standards listed
ASTM C1185-08 (2016); ASTM C1186-2022
Surface burning (ASTM E84, 6 mm sample)
Flame Spread Index 0 · Smoke Developed Index 0
Board type
Described as Type A board for exterior walls and ceilings (classification includes applicant-declared information)

This is a test report, not a certification. Its results apply only to the samples tested and do not indicate that the product is enrolled in any laboratory certification program. The report is not published here. The relationship between the tested samples and the specific board, thickness, formulation, coating, and production batch used on the ACSIOM 749 has not yet been confirmed.

Final exterior material selection — including board type, thickness, installation system, coating, color, supplier model, and warranty — is confirmed by ACSIOM’s product and engineering team before order. Nothing on this page should be read as a performance guarantee for a delivered home.

FAQ

Common questions

Where we serve, permits, timing, pricing, and rental use — the questions that come up while planning.

Where does ACSIOM currently serve?

ACSIOM is rooted in California’s Silicon Valley. Service availability for your specific location is confirmed during the consultation and site review process — please reach out with your project ZIP code and we’ll advise on your area.

Who handles permits and approvals?

Permitting requirements vary significantly by city and county. Responsibilities for permits, site work, and construction are defined for each project during the site and regulatory review, so you’ll know exactly who handles what before any agreement is made.

How long does it take to build an ACSIOM home?

Timelines depend on your site, local permitting requirements, and the model and configuration you choose. During your consultation and site review, we walk through the stages of your specific project — from qualification and permitting through production and delivery — so you have a realistic picture before committing.

How do pricing and deposits work?

Pricing is provided through consultation, based on your model, configuration, and site conditions. When a project moves forward, any deposit is handled through Stripe’s secure hosted checkout — ACSIOM never stores your card details — and the applicable refund and cancellation policy is shared with you in writing before any payment.

Can I use an ACSIOM home as a rental or investment property?

Many homeowners consider ADUs and small homes for long-term rental or multigenerational living. Whether that works for your property depends on local zoning and regulations, which are looked at as part of the site and regulatory review step. Our team can discuss how different models fit rental and investment scenarios during your consultation.
